Chapter 15 | Page 9a: Big boots to fill

Cassie Cruz has a big problem at her company, which finds paying work for superpowered people. Most of her clients are washed-up villains and people with questionable credentials

Her problems are about to get worse…

Transcript

Panel 1:

Cassie Cruz stands with her arms crossed, facing her assistant, Jeremy, seated at a desk. She asks, "Any messages for me, Jeremy?"

Jeremy responds, "One, ma'am. Mister Prentice from Justice LTD called..."

Panel 2:

A close-up of Jeremy speaking. Jeremy says, "The city's top superheroes have been called away, and he wants us to monitor the city in their absence."

Panel 3:

Cassie, looking surprised, exclaims, "WITH WHAT?! Our roster is more flimsy than that kid's MOTHMAN fantasy! Tell him no!"

Panel 4:

Jeremy, adjusting his glasses, replies, "The operating agreement we signed stipulates we must. We're contractually OBLIGATED."

Panel 5:

Cassie says, "So... we monitor the city, and if anything BIG happens, they come back to handle it, right?"

Jeremy replies, "I'm told they will be on a different planet. So... no."

Panel 6:

Cassie, with a tense expression, says, "I'm feeling a significant degree of STRESS, Jeremy."

Jeremy, nervously, replies, "I'll get the tarp, ma'am."
