Taking delivery of Evil Inc Annual Report Vol. 4
A highlight of Wizard World Philadelphia was that Evil Inc Annual Report Vol. 4 made its world premiere at the convention. And it came thisclose to not happening at all.
Due to an unfortunate circumstance, the shipment that was supposed to have been made before the Friday of the convention was going to be made on the Friday of the convention. And, when I called the trucking company Friday morning to get an estimated time of arrival, they told me the shipment wasn’t being scheduled for delivery until Monday.
"That’s just not gonna work," I said. "Where are you?"
"Cinnaminson, New Jersey."
After a brief check of GoogleMaps, I said, "I can be there in twenty-two minutes. Tell ya what. I’m gonna drive over and take one box off the palette. You can deliver the palette on Monday, but I’m gonna get one box today."
Despite the fact that it was "highly irregular," the fine people at NewPenn trucking worked with me, and by 9 a.m., I was flying back over the Betsy Ross Bridge with enough books for the convention.
And I’m glad I did. This is my first full-color book, and Ed’s colors look tremendous on these slick, glossy pages. It’s a gorgeous book. And you guys came out to support the new book at Wizard World Philly in droves. I was amazed at the response I got for this book. Marc Lombardi has the honor of buying the first book out of the box.
As always, the book was a big hit with all of the villains on the convention floor, including Hush, Riddler and Star Sapphire…
Yesterday morning, NewPenn delivered the rest of the books as scheduled. They arrived at 9:30 in the morning, and I had them safely stored away by about 11 a.m.
I will be shipping out Volume 4 packages immediately. Artist Editions will follow. I’m hoping to have much of the books shipped by the time I have to leave for San Diego for Comic Con International.
